Smap3D ViewUpdater

Smap3D ViewUpdater makes it possible to shift the time- and processor-intensive task of updating large drawings to a central computer, thus saving waiting time by freeing up the local computer as the drawing is updated elsewhere.

ViewUpdater is composed of two parts: Administrator and Client. The Administrator software runs on a central computer where Solid Edge is installed. The Client components are free of charge and can be installed on any number of workstations. The end user can send a drawing to the ViewUpdater Administrator with the click of a button, where the drawing will be processed according to a pre-defined time plan.

If a drawing cannot be updated, it gets put back in line to be processed with the next batch.

2D-Update updates drawing views where the 3D model has changed and the view no longer reflects the latest state of the model – depicted in Solid Edge by a thin gray border. 3D-Update performs a 2D-Update as well as updating views where links in the 3D model are out of date – depicted in Solid Edge by thick gray corners – this can occur, for example, in a draft of an assembly where a part in that assembly has changed.
