The compatibility of family and career continues to be a hot topic for all (expectant) parents. Although far too few children are born to counteract the age pyramid, the structures are still not changing enough. Daycare places are rare and private childcare is expensive. So how does being a parent and having a career work? We spoke to Katrin Ehrenleitner from the marketing team. She has been working as a PR officer for Smap3D since November 2020 and has been the proud mother of a son since January 2023.
Katrin, you recently returned to work after a year of parental leave. How are you doing today as a mom at Smap3D?
I am very happy that I was able to return to work without any problems, even with reduced hours. At no time did Smap3 make me feel like I was no longer "needed". In addition, both the team leader and the management gave me maximum flexibility when I returned to work.
During my year of parental leave, however, I met a few mothers who were unable to return to their jobs because their employer did not want them to work part-time, had found other staff or no longer offered them comparable work.
My tasks have also changed, but this is due to the fact that the marketing team has grown in the meantime. I can now specialize more in areas such as press and public relations or the website.
Family-friendliness in the workplace - how can you benefit from Smap3D offers?
Of course, I have defined certain core times for myself, which are also important to me for a structured day, but in general I have the freedom to adjust these if necessary (completely unbureaucratically) - which is simply essential when living with a child.
Working from home also plays a key role here: it gives me more time for my family, which was also one of the reasons why I started working again after just one year.
In a few years, we will certainly also benefit from the kindergarten subsidy that Smap3D offers.
Thank you Katrin!
