Plant Design 2021: New version released

Smap3D Plant Design 2021 comes up with powerful innovations.

Smap3D Plant Design 2021 comes up with powerful innovations such as extended mathematical operations (P&ID), new QuickPlace methods (3D Piping), or ISOGEN dynamic file naming (Isometric). The new version has been available since the end of November 2020 and makes 2D/3D plant and pipeline planning even more efficient.

P&ID

Italian and Chinese have been included as additional languages for the user interface. P&ID primarily offers new functions for standardization and automation. Experienced P&ID users can now define and execute arithmetic, Boolean, comparison, equality, or string operators directly in the P&ID formula editor. Microsoft Access MDB files can also be exported and imported in order to further process them in any applications and processes now.

If users want to place equipment tables on diagram drawings, they can now use data symbols that establish associativity. The advantage: placed tables no longer have to be repositioned when the component symbol is changed.

3D Piping and Isometric

3D Piping provides new QuickPlace methods in version 2021:

  • "Seal special" opens up a wide range of seals to be used.
  • With "welding nipples", standard nipples can be automatically placed on standard branches.

With “cut piece allowance”, Isometric customers can now easily define parameters for ISOGEN© in 3D Piping. Until now this was possible either in the 3D CAD system with the VC writer or only in Smap3D Isometric.

If pipe-on-pipe branch situations have to be mapped, new angled branch placeholder parts automatically shorten the pipe at the branch. This function is available in 3D Piping and Isometric. The latter also supports additional Olet branches on T-pieces.

Isometric now uses the internal file naming system, ISOGEN dynamic file naming. In addition to the variability gained in this way, users can utilize all the functions available in ISOGEN© according to their needs.

In addition, Isometric can now also use incident properties from 3D assemblies that were not created with Smap3D Plant Design.

Usability for Smap3D Plant Design and ScanToCAD

In version 2021, the graphical design of the Smap3D Online Help has been made even more user-friendly. In addition, ScanToCAD now also allows derivations from the spherical view of the scan, which makes operation much easier for 3D CAD users.
